Nice Wire Two Lights To One Switch
Basically the simplest way to have multiple lights on one switch is to run a power supply wire to the switch first.
Wire two lights to one switch. Connect the black fixture wires together and connect the white fixture wires together to form the parallel circuit. Therefore the 2 switches the light 3 way. This circuit is wired with a 2 wire cable running from the light to the switch location.
The most common wiring connections for two outdoor light fixture. This diagram shows the additional cable connected to an existing ceiling rose. The new cable here is labelled light 2.
One black wire for the switch as the power source. Connect the black wire from the switch to the black wire from the first light and the black wire coming from the second light. Wrap a piece of black electrical tape around each end of this white wire to indicate that it is a hot wire rather than a neutral wire.
How to wire a three way light switch. A three way light switch is one where you have two switches that have the ability to control the same light or set of lights. There will be an additional wire needed often red to connect the switches together to a dedicated screw or input on the switch that is specifically marked for this purpose.
The other way to wire multiple lights to one switch is to connect all of them directly to the switch in a home run configuration. The most common is to daisy chain the light fixtures by connecting them to each other and hooking the first one up to the switch. Connect the black wire from the power supply to the white wire of the cable connected to the switch.
The white wire is marked black on both ends to identify it as hot. The black loop wire is connected to the other terminal and at the light to the hot terminal on the fixture. At sw1 it is connected to one of the terminals.
